Fluoride Treatments

What are Fluoride Treatments?

Fluoride is a great way to keep your teeth protected and strong. Fluoride helps to re-mineralize the enamel, which makes it harder for plaque to attack the teeth and cause cavities. We offer effective fluoride treatments to our patients as a way to protect their smiles. Fluoride treatments are easy, quick and can be done at every one of your checkup visits.

Why might Fluoride Treatments be needed?

There are a few different reasons for why you might need fluoride treatments. If you’re prone or susceptible to tooth decay, you might benefit from this type of procedure. For children who are more prone to developing cavities, fluoride can keep their teeth completely protected from one checkup visit to the next. Fluoride can help to prevent instances of tooth decay, which would result in the need for more aggressive treatment.

Who is a candidate for Fluoride Treatments?

Fluoride is beneficial for most patients who need to keep their teeth protected. We can examine your smile to determine if fluoride treatments are right for you. Most patients can request fluoride at virtually any and every one of their checkup visits. We may recommend that children coming to us for care have fluoride added to their teeth to keep them protected.

What happens during the Fluoride Treatment process?

We will begin by cleaning the teeth thoroughly. We then apply a clear varnish over the teeth containing fluoride. This fluoride is helpful when it comes to keeping your teeth as protected as possible. You should not eat, drink or rinse your mouth out for about a half hour following the appointment. This can help the fluoride to work the best and fully prevent tooth decay from forming. The entire process is incredibly easy, and we will work with you to ensure that you benefit the most from this specific type of fluoride added to the teeth.
