What are Dental X-rays?
Dental x-rays are crucial to providing you with the best treatment and care possible. These detailed radiographic images give us a view of what’s going on underneath the teeth and gums. X-rays are needed before surgical procedures, prior to root canals and when you’re simply coming in for a checkup visit. The technology we use in our office is safe and reliable for the whole family.
Why might Dental X-rays be needed?
Dental x-rays might be necessary because you’re undergoing an oral surgery or are having a root canal performed. If you’re coming into our office with an emergency, we’re likely to take x-rays to help identify the problem. For new patients, it’s expected to have a full set of dental x-rays taken. Most of your appointments will involve x-rays when coming into our practice.

Who is a candidate for Dental X-rays?
We use the latest technology available to us when it comes to dental x-rays. You can feel confident in knowing that these x-rays are an important and reliable part of your dental care. Children of all ages can even benefit from having x-rays taken. These images allow us to see the growth and development of underlying permanent teeth of our pediatric patients.
What happens during the Dental X-ray process?
We will first place a lead vest over your body. This will help to keep you completely protected when the radiation is in use. A small device is then used to place inside the mouth. The larger machine is aimed at the device and the x-ray is taken. This simple process is repeated until all of the x-rays that are needed have been taken. We will review the x-rays to determine if there are any underlying conditions or problems. You can request a copy of your dental x-rays at any time by speaking with one of our office staff members in the office.
