Dental Exams & Cleanings
What are Dental Exams & Cleanings?
A cleaning and exam can help to keep your teeth strong, healthy and bright. Cleanings are beneficial for removing hardened plaque, known as tartar, from the surface of your teeth. Exams allow us to get a clear view of your oral health, and to create a treatment plan that is unique to you. We recommend having both a cleaning and exam done once every six months.
Why would Dental Exams & Cleanings be needed?
Regardless of how long it’s been since your last dental appointment, we look forward to working with you when establishing your routine care. Prevention is key when it comes to keeping your smile healthy and bright. Cleanings alone can prevent gingivitis, gum disease and tooth decay. Exams can find small dental problems before they are able to get worse.
Who is a candidate for Dental Exams & Cleanings?
Each member of your family can and should be coming in for preventative care. Infants, toddlers, children, teens, adults and seniors can all benefit from regular dental treatment. We offer this care in a nonjudgmental manner, so you won’t need to feel ashamed if it’s been years since your last appointment. We want to work with you to help you establish a solid, healthy care regimen.
What happens during the procedure for Dental Exams & Cleanings?
Your preventative care appointment typically starts with x-rays. These images enable us to check for underlying changes to your oral health. A cleaning is then performed by our hygienist, who will clear away tartar, plaque and deep staining. The teeth are polished and the gums checked for signs of inflammation and pocketing. We then perform the exam to look for different dental problems. If you have any work needing to be done, we’ll create a unique treatment plan and schedule you to begin coming in for care. The entire appointment takes less than an hour in our office at your own convenience.
